CIMA Research Foundation is a non-profit research organization dealing with hydro-meteorological and wildfires risk mitigation, satellite data analysis, risk assessment and marine ecosystem protection.
It is the coordinator of SINOPTICA project, within which is dedicated in particular to the execution of high-resolution meteorological simulations, spatial and temporal, including data assimilation, in nowcasting mode.
The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy, transport, security and digitalisation is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures. DLR is also responsible for the planning and implementation of Germany’s space activities on behalf of the federal government.
Austro Control is the Air Navigation Service Provider, responsible for the safe and efficient air traffic management in the Austrian airspace and it is one of the leading air traffic management organisations in Europe. Austro Control leads the Work Package 4 and will provide a set of use cases in connection to severe weather handling in ATM environment, especially at the air traffic controller working position.
The Università degli Studi di Padova manages more than 300 European research projects, according to the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects it Is the first university of Italy. The Department of Geosciences is partner of SINOPTICA project, leads the Work Package 3 “Communication and dissemination” and scientifically contributes to the satellite data provision, analysis and assimilation.
GReD is an SME spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, that designs and implements innovative solutions in the fields of geodesy and geomatics. GReD operational activities are mainly in two fields of application: precise GNSS positioning and gravimetry. In the SINOPTICA project, GReD leads the tasks related to data retrieval, data processing and results delivery to the NWP assimilation teams.
The Universitat de Barcelona (UB) is ranked within the top highest public Universities in Spain, in terms of both the quality of the teaching, scientific productivity and quality of the research carried out by its members. UB participates in SINOPTICA with its third party Fundació Bosch i Gimpera (FBG) GAMA team providing their expertise in meteorological issues, and, particularly, those related with meteorological radar.
